Minhauzens 2011

Beginning of August each year is a special time for Latvian hunters because one week before the duck hunting season opening the festival Minhauzens takes place, each year in a different part of the country. A weekend-long festival including shooting competitions (clay, slug, rifle and airgun for juniors), different team competitions, educational contests, junior competitions and the fun of togetherness with the Latvian hunting community. Also this year, August 5th was the day when hunters from allover the country met in Rugāji to spend an exciting weekend and celebrate the 13th hunters festival Minhauzens -- named after the famous hunter and liar Münchhausen who has spent some part of his life in territory of Latvia.

Among the shooting competitions slug shooting is one of the most interesting. Targets are hung in ropes and springs making the aiming even more difficult and depending on the exact palcement of hits. Also D Dupleks steel slug ammunition is often used here to achieve the best results.
