Three splinters usually travel up and damage the spine and nerves next to it, paralyzing the animal and denying its possibility to move. A year-old wild boar was shot from a 50 m distance. The Hexolit 32 slug hit the abdomen. Despite imperfect shot placement, the animal was stopped instantly. Later, X-ray examination revealed all parts of the slug. Three splinters along with the main slug body had traveled 19-26 cm in length and stopped under the skin on the opposite side.
